What the Cover Sheet Must Contain

Your extra-credit fairy tale or analytical paper for Russian 0090 must be stapled with a cover sheet that contains the following information:

  1. The title of the tale or paper.
  2. Your name (please do not include your social security number)
  3. The name and number of the course (Russian Fairy Tales, Russian 0090).
  4. The date you completed your paper.
  5. The following statement: "I have read the documentation about Plagiarism provided at http://clover.slavic.pitt.edu/~tales/plagiarism.html ."
  6. Your signature under the plagiarism statement.

The Function of the Plagiarism Statement

The Plagiarism statement (items 5 and 6) has been included in this cover sheet because students very commonly commit plagiarism unwittingly, owing to ignorance, inexperience, or carelessness. This is not necessarily the students' fault, since the rules for documenting the use of sources are not all self-evident, and some of them even vary across disciplines. The Plagiarism statement is incorporated here to confirm that students have had access to the information they need to avoid inadvertent plagiarism in this course.
